dancing queen
I met Matt in 2005 when we both started our first engineering jobs at MAC Valves. We started on the same day and while working on the assembly line as part of our training something came up that spelled out ABBA. I of course started singing “Dancing Queen” because it was the only song I knew by them and Matt being who he was joined right in. I said to Matt ,”Did we just become best friends?” I’m not sure how John C. Reilly got a hold of my line, but I digress. The song became a running joke throughout our friendship. We only worked together for about 3 years before he moved on but it was a great way to start a career working with someone who was always on your same wavelength. After he left MAC I still saw him quite often, mostly because he was always involved in organizing something. Golf trips, fishing Trips, infamous “Palumbo Cup” events and he was always down to go and get a beer when i needed someone to talk to. The thing I miss most is the random texts. If something ridiculous or funny was happening I would always send him a message and he would reciprocate. I would like to say not a day goes by I don’t think, “This is something Matt would enjoy” but that is cliche and exaggerative and I know he wouldn’t buy it. Definitely not a week goes by…..
Thanks for all the great times!
